1What security measures are you taking?
Security is our #1 concern, and it is likely yours as well. We have never understood why people cheat at video games...IT'S A GAME. Just have fun ...
Unfortunately, with the inclusion of money to be gained, there is now a legitimate reason to cheat. The addition of money, however, is also a reason NOT to cheat. In the past, when cheaters were caught they faced merely a minor inconvenience (such as getting banned from a server or, at worst, having to get a new Steam account). Game developers' and publishers' #1 concern is not the prevention of cheating, game developers' and publisher's #1 concern is making and selling more games. On the other hand, OUR #1 CONERN IS THE PREVENTION OF CHEATING. If we are not providing a secure and cheat-free environment we are not going to stay in business very long. That is why we are taking the following security measures to provide a cheat-free GetGosu.com:

    A. "Cheaters never prosper"
When you are caught for cheating you face greater consequences than just being permanently banned from our game servers. Your GetGosu.com account will be closed and ANY MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE SEIZED. We will circulate your contact info to our competitors so that you can not play on their gaming sites as well. If you have committed (credit card or another type of) fraud we will report you to the necessary authorities.

    B. YOU are the first line of defense.
It is your responsibility to discourage your teammates from cheating. When playing Counterstrike, HalfLife2 or any other team-based game at GetGosu.com you join a team of your friends or clan-mates and then enter a tournament. You will never find yourself on a team with random strangers unless you choose to join a team of random strangers. We highly discourage playing with strangers because:
          a. You won't work well as a team. And
          b. If your teammates are found to be cheating we consider you to be in collusion with them and your activity to be coercive. As per our Terms and Conditions of Use your account may be closed for engaging in coercive behavior. Therefore, by cheating, you are risking more than just your own account, you are risking your friends' account as well.

     C. We will employ a number of proprietary anti-cheating measures, which we can not disclose. We can tell you that these measures will catch cheaters and ban them instantly (there will be no VAC2-like delay).

     D. We will utilize the VAC2 software on our servers. This is our last line of defense (and for our purposes we recognize what it really is: a database of previously found cheats, not a means of detecting new ones).

     E. We understand that we are in a constant uphill battle against new methods of cheating. We know that a cheater may slip by us, but, they will only slip by us briefly. If you are matched up against a cheater we encourage you to continue playing the tournament and to simply do your best (and then to report the incident after the tournament is over). At a later time when the cheater is exposed we will set things right (as far as your bankroll goes). For example: if you are playing HL2:DM and are in the final round of a tournament (in this round there are 4 players participating and players are awarded 1st-4th place money depending on how they finish in this particular round). If one player is cheating and running away with the lead, just fight for second place...when we eventually catch the cheating player we will seize their winnings and give you (the second place finisher) additional cash to make you the new 1st place finisher (likewise the previous 3rd place finisher will become the new second place finisher, etc). Be assured that if we don't catch the cheater instantaneously, they will be caught, and you will not be slighted any of the money that you deserve for being a l3git l33t.
2How do the Tournaments work?
We are offering two basic tournament structures:
Sit-and-Go Tournaments and Scheduled Tournaments.
Sit-and-Go and Scheduled Tournaments range from single-round 1v1's (lasting 10-15 minutes) to huge multi-round tournaments (10 or more rounds) lasting 3-4 hours. Either way, tournaments are run expeditiously and are available 24/7.
3What is a Sit-and-Go Tournament?
Sit-and-Go Tournaments are available at all times. You never have to check the time or worry about a schedule, just sit-down, log-in, sign-up, and play. "Sit-and-Go" refers to the fact that this type of tournament commences soon after a designated number of registration slots have been filled. The number of entry slots waiting to be filled for various Sit-and-Go Tournaments are as follows: 2,4, 8, 16, 32, 64, and 128. If you register for a 16-man Sit-and-Go Tournament, it will begin as soon as 16 people sign up.
4What is a Scheduled Tournament?
Scheduled Tournaments are just that, scheduled. Most Scheduled Tournaments will operate on a daily basis; while some larger tournaments will only be available on a weekly or monthly basis. Registering for a Scheduled tournament is open-ended (any number of players or teams can join). When the designated Scheduled Tournament start time is reached registration for the tournament is closed and the tournament begins.
5How much does it cost to enter a Tournament?
We call the cost to enter / register / participate in a tournament a Buy-In.
We offer a range of tournament Buy-Ins. A typical Buy-In appears as such:
    $10+ $1
The total cost for buying into this tournament is $11
A Buy-In is split into two parts:
The first number listed (in this case $10) is the amount that each player contributes to the Prize Pool.
The second amount listed (in this case $1) is the Rake taken by GetGosu.com.
We plan on launching the commercial version of the software with the following Buy-In amounts:
    $ 1 + $0.20
    $ 5 + $0.50
    $10 + $1
    $20 + $2
    $30 + $3
If there is sufficient demand we will offer higher stakes tournaments as well.
We are also going to offer many special tournaments, which we will tell you about at a later date
.
6What is a Prize Pool?
The Prize Pool is formed when players or teams join a tournament. The Prize Pool is comprised of all of the money that players or teams stand to win by participating in the tournament.
Here is an example:
Suppose that 64 players sign up for a Sit-and-Go HL2:DM tournament with a Buy-In of $10+$1.
Each player contributes $10 to the Prize Pool, therefore, this tournament's prize pool is $640.
In the case of a 64-player Sit-and-Go Tournament the top eight performing players will win a share of the Prize Pool.
The pay-out for this type of tournament is as follows:
     1st place receives $190,
     2nd place receives $130,
     3rd place receives $100,
     4th place receives $70,
     5th place receives $60,
     6th place receives $40,
     7th place receives $30, and
     8th receives place receives $20.
7What is a Rake?
The Rake is how GetGosu.com generates revenue, thereby allowing us to continue providing you this service. The Rake is the second number listed on a tournament Buy-In. If you register for a tournament a portion of the Buy-In (the Rake) is taken by GetGosu.com as a charge for services rendered. If you sign up for a tournament with a Buy-In of $10+$1: $10 is added to that tournament's Prize Pool, and $1 is taken by GetGosu.com as a charge for hosting the tournament.
8Is GetGosu.com's software free?
Yes, we provide the GetGosu.com Platform to you free of charge. However, you must provide your own copies of Valve's games CounterStrike:Source (CS:S) and or HalfLife2:Deathmatch (HL2:DM).
9Where can I buy CounterStrike:Source (CS:S) and or HalfLife2:Deathmatch (HL2:DM)?
We recommend that you purchase CounterStrike:Source (CS:S) and or HalfLife2:Deathmatch (HL2:DM) via Valve's Steam Platform and or by visiting Valve's online "Steam Powered" store. You only need to buy the Valve games that you wish to play on the GetGosu.com Platform. If you only want to play HL2:DM and don't plan on playing CS:S then you don't need to buy CS:S. However, we do recommend that you buy the Source Multi-Player Pack. The Source Multi-Player Pack is a great value as it contains three great games for the price of one!
10What are the Minimum Hardware Requirements for Valve's Source Games?
