not sure. the more people play, the faster we will find / work out the kinks. we want lots of people to play in the beta, we find all the bugs / kinks, fix them, everyone is confident we can go live, we go live.

Yes its “fake” “beta money” during the beta period. We are not sure how long the beta will last, but when the beta is over, then we will get rid of beta money and everything will be for real money. When we are live you will deposit $$$ into your account, register for tournaments with the $$$ in your account, and win $$$ when you win tournaments.
It shouldn’t be suprising that t.com was a fail. Their whole beta period they were giving away $1 every time you played, that was dumb, how can you run a business that gives away money. There is no other business in the world whose business model is to give away money (except for non-profits/charities). T.com gave away all their money and went bankrupt. Get Gosu is not going to do that. The beta is free to play in, you win fake money, its for fun. When the beta is over then it will be for real money. Until then its like overlord said “Currently the perks are that you get free game servers, you get to use our tournament platform for free, and you get to do all this before anyone else, because you were here from the beginning. We do plan on introducing additional perks for Beta testers, but they have yet to be announced.”

wait so this isnt like tournament where you can get a free dollar or somthing its just fake money? why does it say get paid and people are saying im gonna use getgosu instead of t.com since they went down if its just fake money?

Ugh, Silencer, I deleted your thread completely by accident, here is our conversation reconstructed:

Overlord: “there is no server list b/c servers just don’t run continuously here (SRCDS that run continuously degrade over time and have poor performance). There is a list of available tournaments to sign up for at http://getgosu.com/tournaments
The list of available tournaments is comparable to t.com, its the list of available tournaments/matches you can play. If you don’t like the tournaments offered you can create your own.When one of these tournaments starts the SRCDS are launched on the spot for you (with things like max rounds and map all set as specified in the tournament settings).

2. not sure if we will advertise on steam itself (like when those steam updates pop up o advertising games for sale), afaik steam cannot do targeted ads, so those ads show all over the whole world…if someone tried to play from like japan they would lag really bad…

Overlord: “You do not win any money for free. Unlike t.com we are not a charity. One of the reasons t.com is not around right now is because they just gave money away. You can use the game servers to play scrims and tournaments for free using Beta Money, and when you play you can win Beta Money. But, Beta Money is like Monopoly money, it has no cash value, so you are not winning .25 or a dollar for every game played.
